Toyota Material Handling Wins Triple Award

With growing competition in the design arena, this year iF received entries from over 60 countries meaning it becomes increasingly challenging to pass the scrutiny of the international jury. It is therefore all the more pleasing to get no less than three prestigious iF Design Awards for 2015.

Receiving international recognition confirms that our design is based on sound principles. While aesthetics permeates everything we do, there are also a number of core values that underpin our design efforts. One of them is simplicity. Another is driveability – the idea of putting the needs of the operator at the forefront. We want everyone to feel equally comfortable using our products.

The iF Design Award jurors gave their stamp of approval to three of Toyota’s forklift trucks that matched their evaluation criteria. As a result of Toyota’s global design approach the praised vehicles were all designed in different parts of the world.

The BT Levio P-series powered pallet truck and the electrical Traigo 80 forklift were both created at our European Design Center. And our third award winner, the Tonero 3.5 – 8.0 tonnes forklift, was developed at the Design Office, in Japan. Again, all three vehicles share our core values and global design approach in common.

“What with all the time and effort you put into designing a quality forklift, it’s tremendously rewarding to receive – not just one, but three – awards for outstanding design,” said head of design at Toyota Material Handling Europe, Magnus Oliveira Andersson. The iF Design Award Ceremony will take place on 27 February 2015, at BMW Welt in Munich. Our products will be on show in the iF Design Exhibition from 18 June to 20 September this year, in Hamburg.
