Bologna factory heading towards restart

Toyota Material Handling Europe extends its heartfelt gratitude for the condolences received across Europe for our colleagues and their families affected by the tragic event on Wednesday, 23 October, at our Bologna factory.

Since the accident, our focus has been on supporting those affected and ensuring safety as we plan to restart the factory in early January. The blast occurred outdoors, in air conditioning equipment operated by a third party. The root causes of the accident are not yet known, but there are no indications of deliberate actions causing the blast.

Toyota Material Handling Manufacturing Italy (TMHMI) has regained legal access to all its buildings, and safety checks are now complete. A step-by-step plan to re-enter and rebuild the limited parts of the factory damaged in the blast is ongoing.

Meanwhile, partial operations have resumed, including shipments of trucks that were fully or partially ready when the blast halted all production.

We are committed to a full restart in January and order rescheduling is ongoing with the aim to be restored completely well in advance to the production restart.  We appreciate your understanding of this difficult and sensitive situation.

Our hearts and minds remain with the families, colleagues, and friends of those affected during this tragic time.
